About the Book
Newfoundland novelist and poet, Percy Janes, withdrew from normal pursuits at an early age for artistic and educational ones. Perpetually sober and deliberate, he was also without family and alone except for friends, many of whom were inspired to solicitous behavior by his precarious position and worthy pursuits. In this volume, written in the last year of Percy’s life when he was declining with Alzheimer’s Disease, Peter Harley attempts to describe the charm and the folly of this rare individual. The present account includes recorded interviews discussing his life and writing in younger days. The anecdotes and interviews reveal a personality essentially unchanged, even as its abilities failed.
