About the Book
Controlled by an oligarchial dictatorship, the United World Government plots to destroy the Marsfolk Settlements and abolish their Treaty of Sovereignty. Earth’s natural resources are dwindling and the Lunar and Asteroidal operations are too costly to gain sufficient profit. Only the Martian mines produce resources lucrative enough to satisfy the wealthy’s greed. But the century old Treaty of Sovereignty, so dearly acquired, continues to stand in their way. Elements of the UMW Marine Expeditionary Forces, including units of conscripted indigents, are sent to Mars to “pacify” and “process” indigenous Marsfolk for slave labor. The altruistic Marsfolk have few resources to defend themselves. But unknown to the marines and their wealthy masters, Mars itself will be their greatest challenge.
