About the Author
ABOUT THE AUTHOR I was raised in Wyoming and my first ranch job was scatter racking hay at twelve years of age. I think it was the best thing that ever happened to me. I met new friends and one old man would tell me of his days on ranches. I thought ranching and being a cowboy was it; that was the life for me. After I went into the service, my brother, Ken, and I went into the construction business for forty five years. Then my wife and I started making winter trips to Arizona. My wife said fifty years ago she wanted to retire in Arizona. In two thousand seven we bought a house at Morristown. My first summer here, during the heat of the day, I was reading a book and got the idea for a poem. I had tried my hand at cowboy poetry before without much luck. It was really an outlet for me during the heat of the day. I write the poems and my wife does the proof reading, correcting poor English and is a Godsend for what I have been trying to accomplish. Her work is unending. We hope the poems presented here will bring as much enjoyment to you as we have had in putting it together. John D. Swanson.
