About the Book

When Max, a lonely widower, retired from teaching Philosophy 101, he began to wonder seriously about the meaning of life, particularly his. That thought led to the beginning of a secret quest for "Sex or the meaning of life--whichever comes first," his first attempt to give substance to his search for meaning. He had no idea that his move to a backwoods little town in Northern California was not only the beginning of both aspects of his quest, but the doorway to other realities and dimensions. Beyond that it was all part of an introduction to an endless panorama of colorful characters, from very human-like androids with not only superhuman strength and intelligence but superhuman charms and aspirations, and on to an equally colorful cast of aliens from other worlds and other dimensions. He had no idea that what had begun as a retirement move to a quiet little out-of-the-way retreat for the purpose of living out an uncomplicated life in peace had ultimately put him on the path to immortality, galactic exploration, interstellar combat, conquest and alternate realities. The people and experiences he encountered in that little town in Northern California should have been the first clue, but it seemed like such an ordinary little town—the little town of Temple Rock.

About the Author

William Monje has been a professional artist and writer his entire life, particularly working in the theatre, beginning as a set designer/scenic artist and more recently a produced playwright. As a writer he has shorter pieces of fiction and a considerable amount of nonfiction, including writing and editing for what were once referred to as "underground newspapers" back in the late sixties and through the seventies. More recently he has been writing novels of epic proportion, mostly character-driven science fiction with lots of space adventure action. All of his novels have also been formatted for the Kindle and published on Amazon. Although he is most earnestly pursuing novels, with more in progress, he has also written a number of plays for the stage and movie scripts.
