About the Book

DYING BUT NOT DEAD is a book about end of life care. It takes a look at how we often times see the dying. It is an observation from the Hospice Chaplain as to how we often respond to those who have been given a terminal diagnosis. It is also a glimpse of the Patients emotional, Psychological and Spiritual response to death and dying. The intent of the book is that we become better listeners to those we companion during end of life care. It is about listening to them and hearing what they have to say. It is about enhancing their dignity and comfort during their journey.

About the Author

Clarence R. Kelley was born to Lesley and Marie Kelley on August 26, 1956. He matriculated through McCormick Theological Seminary where he earned a Master of Arts in Theology and a Doctor of Ministry in Pastoral Care. He also did his Clinical Pastoral Education at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, Illinois. He earned his certification for the Association of Professional Chaplains in 2001. He has served several Medical Institutions as Staff Chaplain. He is currently on staff at Horizon Hospice and Palliative Care. He also served as the Pastor of the Wounded Healers Word Church-Baptist for over 21 years. He now serves as the Pastor Emeritus. His passion has always been in the field of providing compassionate care to those who are dying and as Pastor/Chaplain I have used my listening skills to be present with those who are experiencing trauma and crisis in their lives.
