About the Book
In this first of my books of poetry, I have attempted to choose poems of love and misery, joy and sadness, lightheartedness and deep darkness, taking the reader through ventures of my childhood, motherhood, and finally my struggle with emotional illness. Some of these poems are fictitious; others deeply personal, sending a message that only the reader can interpret with her own identification and emotion. Divided into three chapters, the book begins my story from the untroubled perspective, progressing on to the difficult and distressing times of my life. It is hoped that, as with any form of art, the viewer can discern these thoughts with the color and life of his own imagination.
About the Author
Born in Chicago, Illinois, and later moving to a small town in Wisconsin, I grew up in the sixties and seventies in an atmosphere of change, rebellion, and confusion. It was then I first began experimenting with words, collecting onto paper a crude sort of poetry, describing myself and the way I perceived my world. Following my marriage and the births of my seven children, I was again inspired to take up creative writing in the form of poetry, which is my enjoyment in my spare time. My career as a nurse and the relationships with my family, the loves of my life, have given me the inspiration and support to make this book a reality.
