The untimely death of a prominent anti-gun lawyer, Barnaby Stillwater, in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire, leads to a complex, challenging investigation as to the motive. Advocates of “liberty and freedom,” infiltrate the state impacting local communities and the New Hampshire legislature. Festus Gravel, a hermit in the White Mountains, is confronted by “extreme” right-wing criminals, on the run. His dog becomes a lone sentry after his master is mortally assaulted.
