About the Book
"FISH STEW" is a combination of topical items which have been discussed by men and women alike, and the experiences that come from living, primarily in the Caribbean. Fish Stew is a poem about a very important ingredient in person´s lives, primarily men; FISH. It tells about the different kinds of fish available on the market and its value, nutritional or otherwise, to men especially. The Bakery tells of an incident in a particular Caribbean Island where a dangerous prisoner attempted to smuggle a popular item into prison and almost succeeded. Guilty tells of an experience several men have had and their clumsy attempts to smother the evidence. Daddy O is a plea to ALL MEN to think about the repercussions of being a poor father. Generally, the book is easy to read. It is written in very simple language, and I truly believe that everyone can relate to one or more of the poems, or your money back, guaranteed!
About the Author
My name is John Compton Dolphin and I was born in Guyana, South America, the 5th of 6 children of Rev. Canon Geoffrey Dolphin and Thelma Dolphin. Growing up was as normal as could be for children of priests who had to change location every 2 to 3 years. My high school education culminated with me sitting an external examination, CXC, where I was successful in 6 subjects. I have always wanted to write, but instead became a high school teacher at age 17 quite by accident. I majored in Math and English in college, and have a BSc, Economics. I taught Math and Economics in Guyana, Montserrat, The Turks and Caicos Islands and at an International American School. Sporadically, I also taught English Language and English Literature. Presently, I reside in the Turks and Caicos Islands, where I am the Vice Principal of a private school. Writing has always been my dream and when the opportunity arose to fulfill my dream, I took it.
