About the Book
These are the unedited memoirs of Rev. John Samuel Wint, JP, who served as a minister of religion in Jamaica and Grand Cayman over a period of 54 years of unbroken service between 1913 and 1967. He continued serving as a volunteer preacher up to 1977 at age 90 years.
This book is a response to a request from the Moderator of the United Church of Jamaica and Grand Cayman for Rev. Wint to document his life and work in the church.
These memoirs were handwritten by Rev Wint and later transcribed by his granddaughter, Dr. Jean Beaumont, who later prepared the manuscript for publication.
Jean provided the title for this book after recognizing her grandfather’s ability to communicate with God and his responsiveness each time he received “a call”. These demonstrate his unwavering faith in God, in “answering the call” – even after several attempts to retire.
