About the Author

My name is Steve Jamnicky. I grew up in the small town of the Chateauguay, Quebec, Canada, just five kilometers south of Montreal. Speaking at least two languages was a must Quebec. French and English were the two accepted languages in the provincial schools, and learning both languages was mandatory. Montreal had so much to offer, but some of us wanted more. I got tired of the politics of separation of Quebec from the rest of Canada. So at eighteen years of age, I left for Calgary, Alberta, 1979 following my small family west. It was a great move because there was so much opportunity in Alberta. I helped raise a family while working in the oil industry and constructions. I spent thirty years raising kids, so when my youngest daughter turned eighteen, I retired early and took her on an epic journey with me.
