Chapter 7 starting the middle of paragraph 2 Death was a fate she was willing to accept because she had brought this on herself, but she felt sorry for the old woman. The truth of the matter was that she might never know what happened to her friend, because she was now a prisoner in a dragon guild somewhere behind Haden's forward lines. Angelina had been bound and kept inside a tent since she first awoke days ago. Even though she had finally come to the conclusion that she was not dreaming, she still did not fully understand what had happened. From what she could remember, she was helping the old woman to collect information when they ran into a small detachment from Haden's Army. Now every time she woke up, she was bounded and gagged, lying on a different dirt floor, and trying to figure out whether or not she was dreaming. She knew it was only a matter of time before the dragon guild killed her or started torturing her for information. As far as she could recall, her turn of fate started when the retreating armies from her home began to return to the safety of the walls of Hela. As the fighting moved deeper into her kingdom, most of the gathering parties also returned. She could still remember the old woman saying, “I want to see for myself why grown men cower before this one man.” The old woman then asked, “Is there anyone brave enough to go with me?” She had only been out of the city a few times in her life, so of course she said “Yes.” She had assumed that the old woman probably just wanted to determine whether there was anything that could be scavenged. She just wanted to get out of the city and did not believe that they would see anyone from Haden's army this far north. Despite the ground shaking most of the time, once outside the city the old woman seemed determined to find the monster that so many people feared. Angelina had nothing to do except to think as she lay on the ground with her hands bound behind her. She could remember it was days before she realized that the old woman was actually heading south to see the Warmonger Haden. By the time she figured it out, her curiosity had gotten the best of her and her need to know how far this woman would go far outweighed her fear of finding Haden's army. Even as the young witch thought back, she still did not understand how the old woman had been able to sneak past the enemy's forward lines. After a few days, they ran into several hundred people who caught the old woman's interest. Although she did not realize it at the time, she later remembered that the old woman seemed distracted that day. She was also sure that this was the moment when she realized that she needed to do something to help the people of Utopia. The two women had been watching this group for several minutes when suddenly an enormous dragon with a single rider landed in the middle of the camp. The group seemed confused by the sudden appearance of the dragon rider and did not appear to be ready to receive him.

A thousand years before this story begins, two worlds, Eden and Metro, collided to create a new world. According to the law of existence, both worlds should have been destroyed in the collision, but an unknown force called magic held the remaining planet together. Even after a thousand years, there are some people who understand that every time someone is born with magic, forces that hold this world together are lessened. A very powerful warmonger named Lord Haden prepares for an invasion of Utopia. Utopia is soon overrun, but as Haden pushes north with his dragons, he is attacked by a powerful witch. Soon rumors spread that Haden is dead and his dragons lost. As his armies break apart, Sabrina, Haden’s youngest child and heir to his throne, takes control of the palace guards and starts moving her army toward Utopia to claim her empire. Other warmongers begin migrating toward the small kingdom to claim a part of Haden’s empire and to find his dragons. Another one of Haden’s children, Lord Scorpion, takes control of the forces in Utopia and tries to unite them once more. Haden’s dragon guild manages to capture the young witch Angelina, whom they believe has killed their master. When the dragon guild realizes that every warmonger within a thousand leagues would like to get their hands on Angelina, they leave her in the City of Hela. Unable to control her power, Angelina is being hunted by the warmonger Scorpion and his raiding parties. She is soon reunited with an old woman. Faced with her nightmares and having nowhere to go, she leaves her home with the old woman and her companions. With armies descending and powerful magic converging, Angelina must find a way to control her power and prevent the death of millions of people.
About the Author
I was born in 1969 in Lexington, Kentucky. I have two wonderful children named Timothy and Zachary. I graduated from a small-town high school in Eastern Kentucky in 1989. I enlisted in the US Air Force right out of high school. I received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of La Verne and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Phoenix. While in the US Air Force, I was an aircraft mechanic for fifteen years and a contract specialist for nine years. My last assignment was in Germany where I retired from the US Air Force in May 2013 after almost twenty-four years. I took a job in Stuttgart, Germany, for about a year and then a job in Kabul, Afghanistan. I now work in Washington, DC, and live in Falls Church, Virginia. For as long as I can remember, I have wanted to write a novel. I started my first novel about twenty years ago. About two years ago, I finished the novel A Time Not Yet Forgotten A Time before Hope, which I self-published. This is my second novel. My goals are to finish a novel at least once a year. I would also like to write a novel about time traveling or return to my roots of science fiction.
