BETRAYED Suspended in a sea of Corruption, Poverty, and Despair, I ask myself “Who Am I” in this political Wasteland of Lies and Deceit? Across the Landscape of Freedom, I see the face of darkness and pain of suffering people longing for Liberty, Truth, and Justice And in my trepidation, I know I am nothing, just “trickle-down” fodder struggling in a Lives for Profit Predatory Jungle With each new day I strive to survive the deprivation of being “surplus” in a wilderness of Greed, Corruption, and Injustice Betrayed, Abandoned, Forgotten to subsist in political Human Bondage, I live for the return of Democracy, Freedom, and Truth. As the “designing men” of wealth, power, and greed proceeded to pillage and plunder America, dismantle the institutions of Constitutional democracy, curb the rights of the people, ravage America’s prosperous communities, they destroyed America’s ability to employ its people with secure living-wage employment. The domestic financial “colonization” of America is today the political and economic reality of the takeover, subjugation, and Pooring of America. The Republican political establishment, bearer of the sword of Darwinian imperialism and the ideology of the “survival of the fittest” individual extremism, ruthlessly descended on the people of America in 1971 in the pursuit of absolute power and capital supremacy over American democracy. In 1971, they came armed with the “Powell Memorandum,” the strategic blueprint written by lawyer Lewis Powell to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce to save the “free enterprise system” from democracy. The document outlined the method and means to undermine America’s democratic institutions, restructure the American economy to unhampered capital supremacy, and financially vandalize an economically secure democratic people. Then in 1980, a new “hijacked” Republican political establishment embarked on a political propaganda campaign of lies and deceit promising “trickle-down” prosperity for “everyone, including the poor” in a skillfully scripted crusade shrouded in political smoke and mirrors. In one historic electoral moment based on promises of false prosperity and national greatness, the Republican “Trickle-Down” Revolution, in the absence of any public scrutiny, gave rise to a new ruling power elite. The Conservative ideological political agenda of radical extremism gave way to a “survival of the fittest” political mandate to disenfranchise the American people, deconstruct American democracy, and financialize America. And in less than a decade the Republican political establishment accomplished history’s greatest mass exploitation of a free democratic people. But why we are want to ask? The why and how of the Republican “Trickle-Down” Revolution that would come to transform America’s political and economic way of life, impoverish the American people, subvert America’s democratic institutions, and institutionalize the unhampered supremacy of capital is the story of the financial takeover of America. It is a chronicle of political-economic greed, political corruption, lies and deceit, and the power of “dark money” and “designing men” reported by responsible journalists and authors Donald Bartlett and James Steels in The Betrayal of the American Dream; William Greider, Who Will Tell the People; Jane Mayer, Dark Money; Hedrick Smith, Who Stole the American Dream; and Thom Hartmann, Screwed: The Undeclared War Against the Middle Class. Tragically for today’s America, few among us were listening, and fewer still even to this day understand little of today’s crushing reality of the Republican protracted fifty-year unraveling of American democracy to the supremacy of capital, and finally, tyrannical political-economic dominance over the people of the United States of America.
