Born in Zaire, now Democratic Republic of Congo ruled by a brutal dictator for 32 years, the author retraces his life journey through this autobiographical narrative: His childhood in a traditional African village and his life as a college professor at African and American universities. After a look at his adolescence, his time in a small Catholic seminary, and his journalistic training, the author paints a bleak picture of his imprisonment, his daring escape, his life as an asylum seeker in Kenya for himself and his family, his Christian conversion, and his departure for the United States of America. This chronicle allows the author to question his identity while casting an inquisitive eye on his new homeland. A man of action, the author writes to explain, to convince, and to enable each member of the human family to better understand one another to avert the dangers that threaten them. About the Author

Justin S. Niati was educated in Africa and in the United States. He earned a doctoral degree in Foreign Languages from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and a master’s degree in Journalism and Public Relations. He taught journalism at the university in Zaïre (now Democratic Republic of Congo) and at Daystar University in Nairobi, Kenya. Later, he taught French language and literature in New York and in the Carolinas. “VoltaireConfronts the Journalists” and “The Man who Ate his Wife’s Placenta” are among his publications.
