About the Book
Torn from her family and from her native country, Ruby Levin hides from the Nazis in the home of a sympathetic Dutch farmer. This haven becomes a trap when the jealous hatred of the farmer’s wife sends Ruby to a Concentration Camp. Still concealing her true identity, Ruby can not conceal her beauty. She catches the eye of the sadistic Doctor Duka, and of Karl Werner, the elite SS Officer. Ruby learns to smile and to seduce in order to survive. But when she experiences a strange attraction to the vicious but charismatic Karl Werner, Ruby must surrender her heart.
After the war, Ruby has to decide how to dispose of the diamonds in her possession. She marries an American, but she must face the wrath of her former oppressor pursuing her.
