About the Book

The Grandparents´ Storybook, Volume 2. When it comes to entertaining children, whether by storytelling, reading, or getting them involved in play-acting, this book will fit he bill. In it you will find a smorgåsbord of stories and plots, tailored to catch the imagination and attention of children, (and also of many adults.) The first part of the book contains eighteen new and original stories. Some are based on the classical repertoire of talking animals, wizards, genies, kings and princesses, and amazing feats and travels. Others are more contemporary in settings and use of characters, and several may properly be classified as ‘modern.’ In the more serious vein read for example “Just Wait and See,” “Mr. Nicodemas,” or “The Little Electron.” Should you prefer comedies look up ”Of all the Luck,” “Deep in the Heart,” “The Dog Choir,” or “My, Oh My!” If you are partial to the unusual, the fantastic, or the impossible, try “Jennifer’s Invention,” “The Incredible Phot-nim-motep,” or “Oh, that Scream of a Gull.” And so on, and on . . . for just about any taste! In the second part of the book the author has attempted to compensate for the scarcity of children’s plays for the stage. It is puzzling that so few plays involving children have been written, when they enjoy acting as much as adults do! Or probably even more so! However, except for support roles in adult plays, very little has been published with children as the main actors. Included in this book are a series of mini-plays, all of them light hearted in tenor, which are suitable to be played for a ‘family and friends audience’ in a living room or on the lawn by young and even very-young actors, with only a modest amount of guidance from an adult. The kids will have a ball! And so will the grown-ups watching them!
