About the Author
Author Erwin Wunderlich grew up as a fifth-generation Floridian and continues to write about the unique people and places of the state. A former submarine officer, he is a graduate of the United States Naval Academy. Erwin also holds a doctorate degree in education. Erwin is an avid conservationist and a dedicated family man. When Cal Went to the Family Reunion is based upon an experience the author once had at a reunion. In particular, the author was given a personal tour of a collapsed old family farmstead in North Florida. His earlier children’s book When Cal Went to Juniper Springs and his novel Salvos on the Backwater were both Florida stories and winners of literary awards. Erwin’s hope is that the book will inspire families and youth to pay more than passing attention to their relatives and ancestors. Such interest and engagement will help inspire our youth and attach them to prior generations, allowing them a chance to become active leaders in discovering and preserving their own family memory treasures.
