About the Author

I will never forget Belmar, N.J.; Ninth Avenue…. Rev. Morris and my Aunt Louvenia, my first job, washing dishes at Sweetman’s Boarding House. (my glasses sliding off into the dish water….I was so young, I Didn’t know I could quit the job.) The Avon Inn, Avon by the Sea, N. J. ( Busboy ). When I wasn’t working, some of us would slip over to Asbury Park, N.J., sneaking into bars where they wouldn’t serve us….we were too young. I have memories that will last forever i.e. The Boy Scout Jamboree, ….Washington, D.C. and the years I attended Camp Atwater in East Brookfield …. Lake Lashaway and the Island….becoming a Life Guard, etc. Walter I. Ray, Jr. Walter Irving Ray, Jr. at an early age learned to cope with the vicissitudes in his life. In his mind’s eye there were no distorted perceptions of people. His poetry creates consciousness and awareness of world differences. Mindful and maintaining awareness, Walter’s poetry often illustrates the acts of caring for another. The tone can be like a musical melody filled with love. My sister and I are proud of all of his accomplishments.
