About the Book
In this new Ellen and Fannie mystery, the scene shifts from the Poe Room at the University of Virginia to the historic downtown mall of Charlottesville, Virginia. Ellen Randolph, who has retired as historic director of the University, and Fannie Groomes, a retired domestic worker, together with their friend, Professor Martin Harrison, have opened a tea room on the mall called The Lost Lenore´s. Once again, Mr. Poe´s work and legacy are an important part of the setting for the story. When Fannie´s nephew, Jack, is suspected of murder, Ellen, Fannie, and Martin once again join forces to solve the crime.
About the Author
Mary Alice Gunter was born in Asheville, North Carolina. She graduated from Duke University with a BA, from Temple University with a Master's degree in English Literature, and from the University of Virginia with a Doctorate in Education. She has lived in Charlottesville for forty years and was elected to the City Council in 1982. She is now an associate professor emerita at the University of Virginia and lives only a few blocks from the downtown mall.
