About the Book
In 1846 Nathan Mahone's losses lead him to become a doctor, never dreaming the country's Civil War would bring further hardship to his doorstep. Unfortunately, it wasn’t the end of his sorrows, ones so heart wrenching, he chose to walk away and leave everything behind. Over a century and a half later, Simon, haunted by dreams of the great, great grandfather he never met, finds himself in possession of the key belonging to the doctor's forgotten homestead. With his best friend, 'Ol Blue, and an unexpected ally, he embarks on a journey to restore Doc Nathan's home, answering puzzling family questions along the way by assembling the family's 'Pieces of the Past'.
