David DeVries, the otherwise quiet and conventional sort of person not inclined to get involved in the latest social outrage or protest, suddenly finds himself torn from his passive existence and rapt by a relentless rage to avenge his daughter Kitty’s death. But still his most underlying nature rules his actions; being an architect by profession, David’s strategy for retaliation is carefully laid out and executed with care, patience and precision. The course he takes he does not deem a solution to the problem; it is his demand for a solution. Set in the bleakly approaching repressive days of the early 1980s, The Demand is a stark psychological thriller tempered by the depth of character and the building motivations that takes an otherwise gentle and peaceful man through an almost mystic transfiguration into a calculating and cold-blooded, avenging slayer of beasts. Is it a suicide mission or will other influences soften his resolve and come into play upon his carefully laid out plans and thwart his final message that will make it all have meaning?

About the Author

William Monje has been a professional artist and writer his entire life, particularly working in the theatre, beginning as a set designer/scenic artist and more recently a produced playwright. As a writer he has shorter pieces of fiction and a considerable amount of nonfiction, including writing and editing for what were once referred to as "underground newspapers" back in the late sixties and through the seventies. More recently he has been writing novels of epic proportion, mostly character-driven science fiction with lots of space adventure action. All of his novels have also been formatted for the Kindle and published on Amazon. Although he is most earnestly pursuing novels, with more in progress, he has also written a number of plays for the stage and movie scripts.
