About the Book

This book is the result of working with children in the small church for many years. This author developed a weekly after school children’s program that became the tool for writing her doctoral thesis about the impact that children can have on sermon preparation. She discovered that children have very creative imaginations that can add a new dimension to the study of Scripture. Some of these insights added spark to her sermons, and the people in the pews were delighted to hear about them. This book will clearly demonstrate the value of studying Scripture with children.

About the Author

Carol Hermann and her husband live in a small town in south central Wisconsin. After raising five children, she felt called into the ministry. She graduated from McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago in 1985 and was called to be pastor of two small churches in south central Wisconsin in 1987. She received a Doctor of Ministry degree in preaching from McCormick in 1994. While serving the two small churches, she developed an after school program for children called, “Lord’s Lambs.” It quickly became very popular, reaching out to all the children in the community. When she retired in 2002, she was given a citation from both the village and the state for her work with children. She is now serving another small church in the area as a part-time pastor and continues to work with children.
