About the Book
The constant threat of assassination stalks Queen Rejeena of Kriiscon. Her cousin, Ishtabarra, strives to slay her to claim the queenship—sending killers to slice the queen’s throat in her tent. Rejeena escapes death by a hair’s breadth—saved by Aarvan, her queen’s man and slave. Ishtabarra, angered and frustrated by his interference, places a price on Aarvan’s head. Anyone can collect the bounty. Avarice and hostile forces abound—back way groups, loose men, wander women. Assuredly, some will seek the reward and notoriety—perhaps the queen’s own guards? Rejeena and Aarvan will each traverse personal corridors. The queen must transcend generations of ingrained bigotry such as men are working slaves, good only for procreation. He struggles to surmount the physical agony and mental misery of slave status. Aarvan declares that Ishtabarra will attack again through the deadly LaSheena’s Corridor, the next challenge on their trek to Queen’s Council. Rejeena and her guard captain believe the feat impossible. As they enter the corridor with scant guard protection, will the outlaws try again? Can the queen emerge alive? To survive and remain together, Rejeena and Aarvan must not only battle outside forces determined to destroy them but demolish the barriers that separate them.
About the Author
AnnaMarieAlt enjoys a passion for writing romantic fantasy fiction and building otherworldly realms and cultures. Her creativity and imagination blossomed during a restrictive, lonely childhood in central Pennsylvania. At eighteen, she joined the US Army and her two careers—the military followed by civil service—exposed her to various cultures, races, religions, and beliefs in a number of foreign countries and states—England, Continental Europe, the Far East, the south, north, southwest, Hawaii, and Kentucky, where she resides. This exposure granted her a rounded view of the world and a host of invaluable knowledge that she now brings to her fantasy creations. AnnaMarie married her true love, a man far removed in creed and action from the hills of her origin. That love grew and lasted until his death. Her lifestyle and journey crafted quite a change from her strict upbringing. Finishing her college degree as well as surviving and supporting the women’s liberation movement launched her understanding of herself as a woman and a writer. She writes to convey her myriad experiences—because she cannot not write—and to share the legacy of a lifetime of love, rage, desire, disappointment, humiliation, ecstasy, learning, twisting morals to accommodate new values, and accepting that we are all human. Out of this driving passion, AnnaMarie has written the Queen’s Man series, an adventurous, romantic fantasy about the Island of Kriiscon, where women rule and men are slaves. The series encompasses the struggle between a domineering but curse-haunted queen and a mysterious, audacious mainland man. Her words expose the ugly underbelly of the human race and illumine the power of virtue while following the grinding agony of a culture in the throes of change. Life’s ambition—fully grown, AnnaMarie wants to be just like Granny Clampett.
