Christian Healing Mission in Gokwe, Zimbabwe. A Success Story.

HEALING OF CATHRENE In 1962 he had his first dynamic experience of being used to bring healing to a sick person. One night, he heard a voice calling him to get up, just around 3.00am. The voice said "Lazarus, Lazarus, get up and go down to Mutani’s house, you will find a sick girl called Cathrene, lay hands on her knees, say the Lord's prayer and sing a hymn". The girl called Cathrene Mutani was a daughter of his fellow teacher at Makwika United School in Wankie Colliery. During that time she was only four years old and suffered from severe leg pains which made her legs become weak and hence she failed to walk like other children of her age. Obediently the Reverend Canon Muyambi woke up, put on his overcoat and ran down the road, for he could not resist the command of the Lord's voice. Although it was still dark, he managed to go to the house. 20 At his arrival he explained the purpose of his important visit and he did exactly what he had been instructed by the voice to do. He returned to his house. The following morning at around 10.00, the Reverend Canon Muyambi saw Mrs Mutani coming with tears of joy on her cheeks, for the girl had been completely healed. It was by this time crystal clear to many and to himself that God was calling him for priesthood. From this, one can judge how this man was called. How really did he believe that God was talking to him? What kind of faith had he that would make him trust and obey the Lord's voice? The servant to whom the Lord spoke knew it was the Lord and obeyed without hesitation or question and so the miracles happened. THE CALL TO MINISTRY The life that Reverend Canon Muyambi faced in his childhood was too unhealthy. It seems God was showing something. Maybe the fact that he was healed in God's name in all instances could be a sign that he was to grow up trusting in God's healing than any other healing. It makes one believe that God can make miracles and if He loves an individual, he secures him to the end. As he continued his services as a teacher and Catechist he was moved when he read a book entitled "Who would be a Priest". In 1961 his call was strengthened and felt God calling him to work for Him as a Priest. In 1962 he had a dream in which he found himself over the other side of the Zambezi River seeing the St John's Seminarians in Lusaka. He finally decided to go to St John's to train. He made an application and was called for an interview in Bulawayo by Bishop Kenneth Skelton. Out of twelve candidates 21 at the interview of the ministry of the Church, Elliot Moyo and Lazarus Muyambi were successful and were later sent to a Provincial Theological College in Lusaka, Zambia, in January 1964. During the fourth year there was intensive reading and he suffered from severe headaches and painful eyes which forbade him to read. While in great pain, he had a dream in which he saw the head of Christ with a crown of thorns staring at him. He heard a voice saying "Be courageous". He woke up switched on the light, there was nothing to see. That was Christ in the spirit. He knelt down to pray and thanked God for the dream/vision. The Reverend John C. Weller, who was the Warden, sent him to the hospital and the hospital failed to cure him. The Reverend J.C. Weller laid hands on him and he later recovered. He completed four years and passed very well. He was sent to St Patrick's Mission in Gweru where he was previously trained as a teacher from 1955 to 1956 and formerly ordained a deacon in 1966.
