I want to read my e-book on my desktop computer. Why can't I open the file?

In order to view an e-book, you must install reading software on your desktop. Popular reading software for desktop computers can be downloaded at the corresponding links:

• Calibre E-book
• Adobe Digital Editions - Adobe
• EPub Reader for Firefox (this is a Firefox Add-On) - Mozilla

Note: macOS has the Apple Books program, which downloads the e-book directly into your Apple Books library. In this case, you will not install additional reading software. Simply click on the PDF version to download the file to your Mac, and it will open in Apple Books.
