About the Book

As Special Deputy Sheriff Louis B. Davenport is leaving for a holiday visit with his grandchildren, a call comes: someone on Spruce Island has murdered one of the guests at Porpoise Bay Cottages, and Davenport has been assigned to the case. When he arrives on the island he finds that any number of the guests and islanders might have had a motive for the killing…. “Nicely written and enjoyable…”—Anne Lesley Groell, Bantam Dell Publishing Group “…a charming setting and convincing characters…”—Jessica Lichtenstein, HarperCollins Publishers “A good, well-paced mystery that kept me guessing until the end.” –Jane Cavolina, Pocket Books
