About the Book

It is estimated that up to one in twenty individuals have a brain aneurysm. When a brain aneurysm ruptures, the chance of fatality exceeds 50%. This book provides a review of aneurysms as well as other disorders of the blood vessels of the brain including arteriovenous malformations, cavernous malformations, capillary telangiectasias, and venous angiomas. What are they? How are they diagnosed? How do you fix them? When do they need to be fixed? As modern medicine evolves, more people are finding out they have an aneurysm or vascular malformation, and newer, state-of-the-art options for diagnosis and treatment are becoming available. Until now, no comprehensive material has been written specifically for patients with these complex problems to help them make informed decisions about their care. This book empowers patients and family members by providing a “nuts and bolts” guide to these disorders including a thorough review of their diagnosis and treatment.
