In the beautiful San Juan Islands, Samuel Trent’s adored wife, Gabriella, is dying of a disease that has destroyed her immunity, confining her to her sterile room. A young physician, Jack Dubin, makes scheduled house calls to assist her. In the warmth of a magical kitchen, Jack listens as Samuel tells his story of an outcast boy comforted by a mysterious voice in the wind, of a young man drawn into the heart of an unknown woman, and of a broken doctor led by a dead man’s gift to Honduras to be a missionary. Jack, a man with a broken past, becomes addicted to this man’s story and the warmth it brings to his troubled heart. Jack’s own world fades away as Samuel tells how he and Gabriella finally come together in Honduras, a land torn apart by revolution. Gabriella is in Honduras with her husband John, a hateful, abusive man who has no love for her, but only seeks to use her in his struggle for power in Honduras. The love between them flourishes in the exotic Central American jungle, and only the heat of the equatorial sun surpasses their intense sensuality and passion. After finishing his story, the book returns to a magical portrayal of love in the last chapter of life. Along with Jack’s, your spirit too will soar in the wind in search of the whisper which may lead you on your own magical journey in quest of life’s greatest gift.
