About the Book
Thirteen-year-old Anna Book is sullen and angry as her father takes her on a whale-watching trip to Magdalena Bay in Baja California. She knows her father is trying to help her, but he can’t; no one can. Just like she can’t stop her bratty behavior that hurts her father and shocks the other whale watchers. Anna just wants to be left alone. But when she is awakened in the middle of that first night by her father’s snoring, and she ventures out onto the bay alone in a kayak, her life changes. Everything changes.
