About the Book

The story begins in May of 1989 when the Jodrell Bank Observatory, a radio telescope located in England, intercepts a signal from deep space. The signal is so powerful it disables their dish and equipment. The Very Large Array, located in Socorro, New Mexico, is notified and the director, Angela Nelson, is summoned to the facility in the middle of the night.

She makes adjustments to record the signal and calls her son, Mark, an investigator for SETI. Together they identify the signal as coming from an intelligent source and manage to communicate with an alien spacecraft headed for this planet. Meanwhile, NASA has picked up the signal, discovers it happened once before in 1947, but cannot access military files concerning it. They contact Everett McKenna, second in command of military intelligence.

McKenna investigates and finds that in that year, a UFO allegedly crashed in New Mexico. It is known as The Roswell Incident. One survivor, Kahteek Kiri Gelfailien, was held and studied by factions of the United States Government. During her confinement she fell in love with her security officer. With his help she was rescued and returned to her home planet.

McKenna's investigation leads him to the facility in New Mexico where he throws his hat in with the Nelsons when he learns they have made contact with the aliens.

A clandestine group operating out of the CIA, fully cognizant of the past history involving this incident, moves to keep it hushed up. The alien craft lands in New Mexico, and the occupant, Galeea, contacts the group at the observatory. She declares her need for help to locate the security officer who originally helped Kiri escape in 1947. At the onset, she does not tell them he is really her father, that she is dying from a mysterious disease, and that she has come to locate and recover the spacecraft before it self destructs with a gigantic nuclear explosion.

Mark Nelson and Galeea Gelfailien set out together in an attempt to locate Scott Terrell, her father. The ensuing journey beset with trials and tribulations lead the couple throughout the Pacific Northwest. Knowing full well the danger of involvement with Earth beings, Galeea falls into the same situation as her mother years earlier, and begins to weaken in her fight to resist Mark Nelson. Pursued by agents who have orders to stop them at any cost, they manage to locate their quest.

Mystery and intrigue grows as several of their group are killed by the organization. With the assistance of a doctor in Los Angeles, she is able to solve the mystery of her fatal disease and gain a cure. By this time, she and Mark Nelson have fallen in love. It is then she reveals the full reason behind her mission and her true identity. Recovering the old spacecraft, saving her life, and to return to her planet heir apparent to the throne now held by her mother, Kiri.

Only with the help of the President of the United States are they able to reach a conclusion that eventually leads to the truth about UFO's, the destruction of the covert CIA operation, and the establishment of diplomatic relations between our planet and the planet of Teralon.

After recovering the spacecraft, and being unable to take Mark and her father with her, she slips away and lifts off for her journey home. Grief stricken, the two men lament at the manner in which she departed. Seemingly faced with the reality of never seeing the women they love again, both men are delighted when Galeea relents at the last moment and returns to take them on board the ship. The story ends on a happy note as they depart for her home planet.
