About the Book
It is 1966. It may be an era on the cusp of national upheaval, but at Sunnyslope High School in Phoenix, Arizona, the driving force among a unique group of 17 year-olds is movies -- in particular, making them. Through the eyes of the narrator, we meet Willard and his close friend Donald, as they join forces with the narrator and his friends (Paul and Mark MacAllister, continually feuding brothers), to film their own version of Poe's "Fall of the House of Usher." As a novel, Slow Dissolve is funny, quirky, playfully disjointed, and peppered with delightful digressions. As a memoirs, Slow Dissolve captures the singular atmosphere of the 1960s.
