Squinty, the Squirrel, a Pancake and the Moon was inspired by the true life experiences of Squinty, a friendly squirrel with a taste for pancakes who lives in a tall tree in Sayville, New York. In this book, with some help from former planetarium director Elizabeth Whitehouse, Squinty will help children discover the moon and its phases.
About the Author
Elizabeth Whitehouse was a teacher at Sayville Schools on Long Island for many years, 18 of which were as the District Planetarium Director. Astronomy, during the beginning of the Space Age, was exciting for all ages. At international planetarium conferences, Elizabeth Whitehouse was an Astronomy and Earth Science Teacher in the Sayville Schools on Long Island, New York for many years, 18 of which were as the District Planetarium Director. At the international planetarium conferences many exciting and valuable ideas were presented about space and the stars. One age group puzzled the astronomers and that was how to present astronomy to the young students. Elizabeth specialized in this area with her “Stories in the Sky”. By imagining the sky as a giant TV celestial events become something fun to find and see.
