About the Book

This book collects columns that appeared in The News-Herald and The Derrick from 2001 through 2003. The columns that the author most enjoyed writing and the ones that many readers responded to are collected here, including several series brought together for the first time. Politics, education, work, and the people who make Venango County special are all here, along with favorite holidays and wild bat attacks. Once again, readers can enjoy a view of the world through a small town lens.

About the Author

Peter Greene has spent more than three decades in the Franklin Silver Cornet Band trombone section. A graduate of Allegheny College, he teaches English at Franklin Area High School. He can also be found playing jazz with the Bully Hill Brass Band, kayaking on the Allegheny River, and working in local theater. His previous books include Venango Tales and A Good Idea at the Time which collect many of his weekly columns from Venango Newspapers.
