About the Author
Ambrosio E. Gotera is a retired Filipino-Canadian high school teacher. His trilogy novels on the Purchase of Panay entitled Datu Puti, Sumakel and Marikudo are based on the legend and pre-Hispanic history of the Philippines. History and oral legends (on how the early Malays of Southeast Asia who were either Hindus or Buddhists were proselytized to Islam, and how some refused and resisted the Islamic faith by escaping and migrating to the Visayan islands that comprised the central Philippines today, and how they settled there and waited to be Christianized), have fascinated him to write these novels. In the year 2000 he published his town history book entitled The Igbarasnon. In 2005 and 2007 respectively the first editions of Datu Puti and Sumakel were published in the Philippines. He has also written a book of poetry, The Star of Bethlehem (inspired by their pilgrimage to Holy Land) which will be published soon. He and his wife, Consuelo Edang, a retired nurse, and their family reside in Toronto, Ontario, Canada since 1972.
