About the Book

CARA COVINGTON'S name is fancy but she isn't. “I made a deal with God,” she says. “My life would be crap and my heaven an endless supply of toilet paper.” A life will go unanswered if its cries are poured into a bottle, meaningless sex or food. Cara learns that life doesn't have to live her; she has to live her life, however difficult thatis. And her life is very difficult, as are the lives of her friends and family in a small East Texas town. UNANSWERED LIVES is Lindy Lieban's first novel. The author grew up in Texas and lives there still. While this first literary offering depicts the lives of uneducated people, her own life in Texas has been vastly different from that of her characters. Her parents were highly educated, accomplished people who moved to Texas in the 1950's. She has six siblings and has been married for twenty-five years and is the mother of five children. Writing has been her dream since childhood and after two bouts with cancer, Unanswered Lives became a dream realized. She is currently a cancer patient at MD Anderson hospital in Houston and spends her time writing. She also volunteers as a manager of online writer's board on America Online and is active in a cancer support chat room. The author has a second novel in the works and a million stories living in her head. Unanswered Lives was completed on her son, Shawn's twenty-fourth birthday because it was the second most important thing she had done with her life. She thinks that if people open their eyes and then their heart . . . magic exists everywhere. Unanswered Lives was magic for her and she hopes it will be the same to her readers.
