Willie Gets a Bell Ma worries about Willie when he doesn't come to her when she calls for him. After careful thought Ma finally comes to the conclusion that a bell would let her know where he is, even if he doesn't come to her. Does Willie like his bell? Will Willie like his bell? Willie is Hungry Ma is busy and doesn't respond when Willie calls to her. Willie goes away to play with his best friend, Bo. Eventually Willie returns to where Ma was, but she has already gone inside the house. Willie is hungry, so what will he do?

About the Author

Margaret Cardenas lives in a small rural community in the mountains east of San Diego with her husband and animals. The “Willie” stories were written for her grandchildren, but they were also enjoyed by the students she worked with, so she decided to share the stories with all children. Willie and Bo are pets owned by Margaret and her husband, and for the most part the “Willie” stories depict their true behavior.
