This is the second collection of not so short stories by Brian and once again he looks closely into the lives of people and the individual problems that they have. What makes the stories so interesting is the crispness of his writing and the perceptiveness of how he views human nature. So many times I have found myself identifying with the characters, not from the situations that are being described but through their frailties and attitudes and weaknesses. I was privileged to have been given a pre-publication copy of ‘House Of Penitents’ and I quite literally could not put it down.
