About the Author

Deacon Denny Burkett, who was born and raised in Shelby, Ohio, has been married to his high school sweetheart Linda for nearly 56 years, and together they are very proud of their three children Christopher, Matthew, and Amanda, their eight grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren. Deacon Denny, as he prefers to be called, was ordained a Permanent Deacon of the Roman Catholic Church on May 13th, 1989, at Holy Rosary Cathedral I n Toledo, Ohio by the late Bishop James R. Hoffman. While in the Diocese of Toledo, he ministered to his home parish of Most Pure Heart of Mary, but also served the various parish communities in nearby cities. In the year 2004, Deacon Denny and Linda moved to Bluffton, South Carolina, where they have lived these past twenty years. Deacon Denny has been assigned to the largest Catholic Church in South Carolina which is named Saint Gregory the Great. His ministry there has focused on Holy Communion to the sick and homebound, Marriage Preparation, Pastoral Counseling, Spiritual Direction, Adult Education Presentations, Bible Study Programs, Prayer Group Formation, and leading parish pilgrimages to the Holy Land and Italy, and he has served as the Dean of the Beaufort Deanery for Deacons. The Sacred Scriptures has always been meaningful in his life. That passion led him to write his first book No Greater Gift (Xlibris Publishing and Amazon). He is a gifted storyteller, and his writing style allows him to help others to feel as if they were there when the events read in the Bible were actually happening, which corresponds with his unique way of presenting and preaching. His second book- When We Met Jesus-Our Untold Stories- allows the readers to understand what those who were healed by Jesus in the various Gospel Stories experienced in a first-person narrative. In this book, using his imagination, Deacon Denny fills the void the Gospel writers didn’t include in their writings. Hopefully, this will allow readers to connect their lives to the lives of those whose stories are written within this book and the effect Jesus had in their lives. Jesus continues to work miracles in our lives even today. Maybe someday one of these stories may be about us. This stories in this book reminds us that it takes is a little faith.
