About the Book

This is a work of fiction which most likely should be considered an adventure story for adults. Some excerpts from the story are inappropriate for children or more sensitive adults. It is a tale of adventure whose main character is a young man searching for a new start in a recently discovered land across the ocean. His life takes unforeseen paths. First, he is swept off the ship and lost at sea. Then he is captured by stone age savages on a tropical island. He goes from slave to hero and back to slave again, not just once but several times in the course of the book. He finds a dusky beauty who he hopes is the love of his life, but for many reasons it never quite works out as he would have wished. But in the end, his adventures find him once again on a ship bound for the newly discovered land. Like every true hero, just as his star seems to have sunk to a new low, something nearly miraculous comes along to save the day.

About the Author

This is the fifth book published by the author, all through Xlibris Corporation. Although at present he has received scant acclaim for his novels, he has more than made up for the lack by other achievements. Namely, he won the kite flying contest in sixth grade, an award for the highest grade point average for one year in high school, and won first place in a bodybuilding contest in the category of men over seventy years of age. Instead of a career, he had a disparate succession of jobs. He worked in analytical laboratories, in an oil refinery, tended bar in a honky-tonk, operated a metal lathe in a machine shop, toiled on a small farm as a hippie farmer, and for one agonizing year taught chemistry and physics in a high school. In retirement he writes, plays the violin and the guitar, exercises at a gym, and visits grandchildren.
