When a hurricane hits the east coast, Mary Ann and her family have to evacuate their home. In their haste to get away, they leave their beloved dog Patch behind. Mary Ann is devastated .For weeks, she does not know where or how her dog Patch is surviving. About the Author
Since the time when the ugliest, most loving stray dog came to stay with Dixie Beth, her heart has gone out to homeless, misplaced dogs. As an elementary school teacher she wrote and presented the series “Story Fun" for PBS. As a volunteer, she was involved in the “Everyone A Reader" and “Book Pals" programs, helping children to read and reading books aloud to class rooms. After living in southern California for many years, Dixie Beth has returned to her beloved Ozark Hills, where she continues to write poetry, children's stories, sings and records her own music.
