About the Book

Jean LaFitte loved many women. One of them, Kinnessee, is from the Karankawa Indian tribe who lived on Galveston Island. Jean LaFitte abandons her, giving her a gold cross inset with 40 rubies. She almost starves, pregnant, she keeps the cross. After her death, her son Malcolm Midowan, the second, returns to Galveston with his bride. The cross becomes an enigma, as he tries to find the rightful owners only to lose his own life. The one left to be responsible for the cross is Karan, Jean LaFitte and Kinnessee´s great granddaughter. She however, is kidnapped and taken to Magar Island, where she must face the wrath of the Mayan tribe for the stealing of the cross. She falls in love with her captor, Anaqua, the Taranta brave who was sent to retrieve the cross. This brings a very interesting aspects to this adventurous story.
