About the Book
Last Year Before Reality is a story of African-American youths experiencing life, love and tragedy as they approach adulthood and independence. A positive highlight of this story is the prominent placement and impact of the parents in the lives of the characters. The development of close friendships and life expectations provides for nonstop action. Hope, despair, dreams, and disappointments propel the characters through to the last page of the book. The inevitable result is summarized in the last sentence of the book: “For some, it was their last year before reality. For others, it was their last year.”
