In 1865, saving Selma, Alabama was the south's last chance to save the Confederacy. The best Confederate troops were there to protect the huge arsenal and the Ironclad ShipYards. The South's great, undefeated, General Nathan Bedford Forrest was assigned to lead them. His men fought bravely. Viola Liuzzo was shot and killed while driving down Highway 80 in Lowndes County, Alabama. It was the last day of the historical Selma to Montgomery Freedom March of 1965. Viola was one of the soldiers in the second civil war that was fought one hundred years later. The truth is that the second civil war was not that much different from the first one. Both were fought to save the Union. The Imperial Wizard of the Ku Klux Klan, Robert Shelton Jr., said, "I have evidence that the deaths of Viola Liuzzo and the Reverend James Reeb had been planned by Communists to blacken the reputation of the Klan." He never produced the evidence.
