I didn’t ever want to care about another human being again. It hurt too much; left me feeling too empty, too worthless. And so I decided for a second time that I was going to try to play the indifferent game.

I was too late though . . .

By the time I’d decided, I’d already been affected in ways I hadn’t even realized. The virus had taken hold of me, mutating my identity and inner thoughts until they had transformed to almost complete self-abhorrence.

It had happened so slowly over the years that I hadn’t even noticed it, and only now, in retrospect, do I realize how much my mind had changed in that time.

But for you to really understand, you would have to be able to read my mind.

About the Author

A young Author and Blogger, Jessica Marie Johnson was born in Provo, Utah and currently lives in Northern California. Jessica is very self-motivated and independent and has a remarkable ability to create, as well as an amazing artistic side which she displays through ceramic sculpture, pencil and paper, and written word. She loves capturing the world via photography and film processing and has an eye for displaying detail in color and form. Along with visual arts she has a passion for music and loves to sing whenever and wherever she can. Her first love is running, and she runs cross country daily, though during high school she raced as a sprinter and was a sprint captain of the track team. Jessica developed an interest in reading and writing during elementary school and read at an advanced level early on. During these years she wrote and illustrated several children's books that have yet to be published and in high school the publishers of The New Era magazine requested the rights to publish one of her articles. Much of her work is contained in shorter descriptive essays which she uses not only to entertain but also as a way to express emotion, discover herself, and unfold life's truths. She will continue to pursue writing as one of her passions as long as life permits.
