About the Author
Elizabeth Burt Lukather was born June 3, 1914 to Jane Veale Burt and John Burt of Narberth, Pennsylvania. As an accomplished horsewoman, poet, and therapist by profession, she has dedicated her life to helping others realize their potential. Challenged with paralysis at the age of two when a polio epidemic struck her hometown, she has dedicated her life to inspiring others in overcoming obstacles. In collaboration with Golden West Stables of Ontario, California, she founded The Brass Ring in 1973, an organization devoted to rehabilitation of all forms of handicap through horsebackriding. The U.S. Senate and California State Senate conferred the status of Woman of Achievement in Sports in 1987. In 1992 she was voted San Gabriel Valley Woman Athlete of the Year. Among her accomplishments is this compilation of 108 sonnets written over her lifetime. “The place of poetry in the human experience is right on the front line. I never had any training. It was just there“, remarks Elizabeth. # #
