About the Book
Nicholas Steiner is a German born photographer who beginning as a teenager in the 1950s, spent many summers in Europe. In traveling on the continent over subsequent decades he often encountered individuals and situations that allowed no more than one or two shots. Such "Brief Encounters" are the subject of this collection of color photographs.
About the Author
The author is a Board Certified internist who practiced in New York City until 1984 when illness necessitated early retirement. An earlier memoir “UNFORESEEN CONSEQUENCES: A Physician’s Personal Triumph over Advanced Melanoma” (Xlibris) relates how cancer affected his professional and personal lives, and the key role played by Traditional Chinese Medicine (herbs) in his “miraculous” recovery. In between writing these memoirs Steiner compiled a narrative based on his (German) grandparents and parents’ lives before, during and after WW II. An avid photographer since age 15, he has published many books of his pictures.
