About the Author

Brian Matthew Rankin was born in June of 1993 in southern California. At the age of fourteen, Rankin decided to enroll at the New Mexico Military Institute where his love of history, duty, honor, and country took root. He graduated in 2011 and attributes much of whom he is and all that he’s learned to the Institute and his family. Rankin is unsure at what point in his life he grew fascinated with Roman history, but what is certain is that it’s become an integral part of him. Rankin enjoys hiking, medicine, dancing, shooting, writing, helping others, and all things outdoors. He currently serves in the United States Army as a Health Care Specialist with the 1St Cavalry Division. There he continues to write and read about Rome. Rankin looks forward to serve as a soldier, become a doctor, and develop as an author.
