About the Book
From The First Lie:
Aunt Dorothy stared at me a moment, then shook her head. "I don't know what you've been told, Carrie," she said slowly, "but you were never adopted."
My mouth dropped open.
She leaned forward and took my hand. "I was at the hospital with your mother when you were born."
Why would her mother lie about something so important? What was she hiding?
That’s what Carrie Engel desperately wants to find out. But as she gets closer to the truth, she uncovers even more shocking family secrets—secrets that someone is determined to keep hidden at all costs.
Even murder.
“Hooks you from the start and propels you along to a stunning conclusion. You won’t want to put it down!”
--Susan Krones, Host of Bookends on KPFZ radio
“The First Lie is incredibly plotted and beautifully paced—a real page turner and a definite choice for my book club!”
--Virginia DeVries, Mendocino College English Instructor
“Charming small-town folks and crisp, picturesque settings cannot conceal the treachery that unfolds in this fast-paced story with more twists and turns than an icy mountain road. What a treat for mystery lovers!”
--Sue A. Lehman, author of A Rat Among Us
