About the Book

Allan T. Perkins’ From Beggar Boy to Prince is a unique work from an equally unique author.  It is the story of an orphaned beggar boy with a smile bright enough to create a star, and a heart strong enough to mentor a king. This delightful book started as a short Christmas story with a unique ancient Nordic flavor.  It was so popular with friends and family Allan was encouraged to write another, then another.  When he was finished Allan had written fourteen distinct stories.

The original story, King Odinn’s Magic Mirror, is chapter one of this charming book.  His second story, Beggar Boy No More, starts a second after the first ends and makes up the second chapter.  Each successive chapter is a new story.  Each stands alone.  A tale on its own.  But read in succession, they tell how the lowly beggar boy of the tiny village of Icy Fjord becomes the crown prince of the mighty land of Midlandia.

Along the way, Heimdall learns many things.  To read, write, make a camp fire and use a bow.  But, he learns much more.  Even more importantly, the lessons he teaches others are far more valuable then those others teach him.  A soul much wiser than his years, Heimdall is a character whose simple smile guides travelers for centuries on end.  You will not only want to cheer for him.  You will want to proudly stand beside him.
