About the Author

I can remember the first poem I ever wrote. I was in the eighth grade and found myself staring out the window at a solitary tree. That tree made me think of God. I don’t know why, but that image caused me to write a poem about the loneliness of life and my image of a God I could not see. I no longer have the poem or the poems I wrote during that time in my life. I am much older and hopefully wiser. Still, the child in me seeks meaning in the world. I am a husband, father, grandfather and friend still trying to find me. Perhaps, you may get some sense of me in Voices from God’s Gumbo.
