About the Book

Pacific High is directly taken from the pages of the log entries along the way. It not only tells of the hardships at sea, but poignantly tells of the author’s deepest personal thoughts when faced with death threatening seas on an ill-found boat and his unwavering will to survive.

The art of jury rigging just about every system on the boat is covered as it was needed. Special navigation techniques are explained along with instructions on making the softest biscuits and great loaves of bread at sea.

The voyage started in Hong Kong went to the Philippines, Yap and Guam. From Guam, the single-handed passage continued across the Pacific to San Francisco.

With life threatening regularity, the author fought to keep the boat afloat as he travelled across the North Pacific Ocean with only a three pound Chinese cat as a companion.

Water and food became increasingly scarce as the voyage stretched out. Both the sailor and cat missed a few meals.

Each phase of the passage is detailed so the reader might feel as if he or she was right there watching what was going on aboard.
